A major issue that is present in regard to fair trade products is that they are generally more expensive than the non-fair trade counterpart. This is seen in chocolate, coffee, clothing, and pretty much anything. This is due to the fact that when everyone in the supply chain is being paid more, the product will costs more at the next level up. This may be a problem for those of us that are living on a budget. For example, as a college student, I have a hard time affording some things in general, let alone fair trade things.
Therefore, if this was what was keeping you from starting fair trade practices, there is a solution: start with one product.
